Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (December 29, 2012) – The LIU Post men's basketball team rattled off its sixth straight win behind a game-high 29 points by senior Tobin Carbery (Hamden, Conn.) and a strong double-double effort from junior Vaughn Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.), handing Chestnut Hill College a 91-75 loss on Saturday evening at the Pratt Recreation Center.

The Pioneers improve to 6-3 on the season, while Chestnut Hill slipped to 5-7 overall.

The hosts jumped out an early lead, beginning the game with a 12-5 run, but the Griffins answered back and drew to within one, 14-13, with 11:00 on the clock.  The Pioneers generated a 11-0 run to give them a 25-13 lead with 8:52 to play, but again the Griffins answered with a run of their own, and made it a 30-25 lead for the Pioneers with 2:35 to play.  But a jumper by  Amir Tarif (New York, N.Y.) with 57 seconds left and a three-pointer by freshman Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) with six seconds left pushed the Pioneer lead back to ten points heading into halftime.

The Pioneers wasted no time in the second half as they pushed their lead to as many as 31 points with 13:46 on the clock, and held a comfortable double-digit the remainder of the contest, as the Griffins could only get as close as a 15-point deficit as the Pioneers coasted to victory.

Carberry's 29 points came on an 11-20 effort from the floor, while Allen shot 7-11 from the floor and was 6-8 from the charity stripe.  Junior JaMario Clayton (Durham, N.C.) chipped in with 12 points.   Allen's game-high 20 rebounds bolstered a dominating Pioneer effort on the glass as the hosts outrebounded the Griffins 51-29.  LIU Post shot 50% from the floor (34-68) and dealt 22 assists to 17 turnovers.  Conversely, Chestnut Hill had 11 assists but turned the ball over 22 times, and they were almost doubled up in the paint as the Pioneers had a 42-22 advantage in that category.

The Griffins were led by Jakeem Bogans  with 18 points, and Luke Dickson with 17 points, both off the bench.  Mark DiRugeris chipped in with 10 points.
