Softball Ranked 10th In NFCA Preseason Poll

STARKVLLE, Miss. (Feb. 1, 2012) – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has C.W. Post ranked 10th in its preseason Top 25 poll, which was released on Wednesday.

C.W. Post was ranked ninth in the final NFCA poll of 2011 with a 41-16 record and is the highest ranked school in the East region, ahead of No. 25 Merrimack.  The Pioneers captured their third NCAA East title in five years by sweeping Merrimack in Super Regional.

Reigning national champion UC-San Diego is at the top of the list of 25 schools.  East Coast Conference opponents, Dowling and Molloy each received votes in the poll.
 
C.W. Post, under 14-year head coach Jamie Apicella, opens the 2012 season in Kissimmee, Fla. on March 4 with a pair of games against St. Cloud and Ferris State.
