Four Pioneer Swimmers Qualify For NCAA Championships in March

MANSFIELD, TEXAS (Feb. 29, 2012)
– Out of 183 swimmers selected from 39 different teams, the C.W. Post women's swimming team will have four representatives at the 2012 NCAA Division II Championships.

During the championships, the Pioneers will be represented in 11 different events, including nine individual events and two different relays.  The championships are going to take place from March 14-17 in Mansfield, Texas with these individuals having their names on the preliminary qualification list.   

Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada) will be involved in the most events, totaling five different competitions.  The sophomore is set to take part in the 200 breast, the 200 individual medley, and free distances of 100, 200, and 500. 

The lone senior of the foursome is Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden), as she has three events lined up.  Hanes is scheduled to be in the 50 free and 100 fly while also joining Garriock in the 100 free. 

Also joining Hanes and Garriock in the 100 free is Mairi Morrison (Carnock, Scotland).  Morrison will also join Hanes in the 50 free and then add the 100 back with Johanna Pettersson (Kunglav, Sweden) also taking part.  Pettersson is going to the lone Pioneer to swim in the 200 back.

The four individuals also will team together to compete in two relay events, the 200 medley and 200 free.
