Softball Tabbed Third In ECC Preseason Poll; Hagenah Named Preseason Player Of The Year
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Feb. 8, 2012) – The C.W. Post softball team was voted third in the East Coast Conference preseason poll released on Wednesday. In addition, sophomore
Nicole Hagenah (Commack, N.Y.) was voted the Preseason Player of the Year by the league's coaches.
Molloy College finished atop the eight-team poll after receiving two first-place votes. Dowling College was second with four first place votes followed by C.W. Post, who had two first-place votes. Mercy was fourth followed by Queens and NYIT. St. Thomas Aquinas and Bridgeport round out the bottom half of the poll.
Senior Jessie Stavola of Dowling College was voted Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
C.W. Post is the reigning NCAA East champion and returns 15 letterwinners along with seven newcomers. The Pioneers open their season on March 4 in Kissimmee, Fla. against St. Cloud State and Ferris State.
