BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 17, 2012) – Michael Brennan and Billy Richardson each scored three goals to lead No. 4 Dowling College past C.W. Post, 14-4, in an East Coast Conference men's lacrosse clash on Hickox Field.
Dowling improves to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in conference action while C.W. Post slips to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Dowling outscored the Pioneers, 5-2, in the first quarter to set the pace. The Pioneers tied the game twice in the quarter on goals from senior midfielder
Wade Ungar (Middle Island, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder
Octovio Bernabo (Mahopac, N.Y.).
The Pioneers cut the deficit to 5-3 when senior midfielder
Keith Rodriguez (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) tallied his 12
th goal of the season at 13:52.
Dowling responded by outscoring the hosts 8-0 through the end of the third period. C.W. Post scored its fourth goal on a man-up opportunity from senior attacker
Doug Hoch (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) at 10:56 in the fourth.
Dowling finished the game outshooting C.W. Post by a 37-27 margin and held a 37-26 advantage on ground balls. The Golden Lions were 1-5 on man-up opportunities while the Pioneers were 1-7.
C.W. Post is back in action on Saturday when it plays next door against NYIT at 1 p.m.
