Women's Swimming Relay Team Caps off NCAA Championships
MANSFIELD, Texas (March 17, 2012) – To close out the NCAA Championships on Saturday, the C.W. Post swimming relay team earned an All-American Honorable Mention during the 400 free relay event.
Earlier in the morning, the team of
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, Canada),
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden),
Mairi Morrison (Carnock, Scotland), and
Cornelia Hanes (Stockholm, Sweden) finished the preliminary round with a time of 3:30.04. This time completes a new record in Pioneer annuals for the 400 free relay.
The group then eclipsed that record time with a better time of 3:29.64 to earn a 12
th place finish overall in the nation for the event and also qualifying for All-America Honorable Mention. During this event, Hanes turned in a time of 51.90 to lead off the relay that helped propel the entire group to a solid finish.
For the championships, the Pioneers finished an overall 20th place out of 37 teams. Wayne State took home the championship with an accumulation of 497 points with Drury finishing one point behind at 496.
