SAAC Representatives Help Spread Awareness for the Red Flag Campaign
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 5, 2012) – Three student athletes, representatives of SAAC, participated in the Red Flag Campaign, a campaign that is geared toward raising awareness on college campuses about the issue of dating violence.
Sarah McLaughlin (Seaford, N.Y.) of women's cross country,
Emily Hoehn (Kearney, Neb.) of women's volleyball, and
Bridgett Soares (San Diego, Calif.) were a part of the effort to help spread awareness about abusive relationships and that there is help out there on campus in the Pratt Recreation Center.
The focus of the campaign is to educate students about the “red flags” or warning signs of abuse and the available resources on and off campus. It's also serves to encourage students to speak out when they see any signs of abuse or violence in their own or a friend's relationship.
