BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 9, 2012) – The C.W. Post men's baseball team used a balanced offense and a strong pitching outing to earn an 8-0 victory over Dominican.

C.W. Post improves to 5-3 on the season before the team heads down to Florida on Sunday.  Dominican drops to 1-4 on the young season.

In the bottom of the first, Angel Pimentel (New York, N.Y.) was balked home after he doubled to left center and advanced to third on a ground out to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.

C.W. Post then tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the second.  Phil Loprete (Bellerose, N.Y.) doubled home a run and two batters later, Vincent Iacono (Nesconet, N.Y.) earned an RBI on a sacrifice fly.  Loprete came around for the final tally on Keith Herring (New York, N.Y.) single.

Herring then drove in Loprete during the fourth inning, giving C.W. Post a 5-0 lead.  Herring then came around to score on a Pimentel single, putting the Pioneers up 6-0 after four innings of play.

Scoring another two runs later in the game to give C.W. Post an 8-0 lead, starting pitcher Bo Budkevics (Deer Park, N.Y.) only needed the opening run support as he went seven, shutout innings to improve to 2-1 on the year.  In those seven innings, Budkevics struck out seven hitters and only surrendered three hits.

Pimentel and Herring each led with two RBIs, while Loprete tied Pimentel with two runs scored.

Next for the Pioneers will be a doubleheader in Winter Park, Fla. against Stonehill, this Sunday starting a 10 a.m.
