Men's Cross Country Places Third, Women Fifth at Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (Oct. 12, 2013)
- The LIU Post men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Newark, Del. on Saturday to participate in the Blue-Gold Invitational, held at Delaware's White Clay Creek State Park. The men finished third overall, while the women came in fifth.

For the men, Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) paced the green and gold, finishing sixth in the 8,000-meter race (27:51.57). Matt O'Keefe (East Rockaway, N.Y.) was next to cross the finish line for the Pioneers in 12th place (28:24.13). Steven Arnone (Staten Island, N.Y.) wasn't far behind, finishing 14th (28:25.98). Tyler McGarvey (Babylon, N.Y.) and Thomas Speicher (Levittown, N.Y.) finished up the scoring for LIU Post, finishing 29th, and 32nd, respectively.

On the women's side, Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the way for the Pioneers, finishing with a time of 25:30.27 in the 6,000-meter race. Jenn McLaughlin (Seaford, N.Y.) was right behind her with a time of 25:30.56. Alexa Montegari (Wanaque, N.J.) followed at 26:42.63, while Angelica Price (Tampa, Fla.) crossed at 26:47.07. Brooke Rozea (Syosset, N.Y) was next to finish for the green and gold (27:52.62). Jessica Wiking (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Sara McLaughlin (Seaford, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers at 28:16.38, and 28:37.02, respectively.

Head Coach Rob Morris and the Pioneers are back in action on Oct. 27, when LIU Post hosts the 2013 East Coast Conference Championships.
