Austboe Claims ECC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2013) - For the third time this season, junior forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) of the LIU Post men's soccer team was named the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. He compiled seven points (3 G, 1 A) in a pair of games last week.
 
The Norwegian leads all of Division II in scoring with 15 goals and six assists for 36 points.
 
Last week, the top-ranked Pioneers improved to 14-0 overall, and 7-0 in ECC play, with a pair of league wins. The green and gold rallied behind two late second-half goals by non other than Austboe to take down Molloy in a well fought 2-1 battle.
 
Later on in the week, LIU Post traveled to St. Thomas Aquinas, and routed the Spartans, 5-1. The nation's leading scorer chipped in one goal and one assist in the contest.
 
Up next for Austboe and the Pioneers is a trip to Waterbury, Conn. for a clash with No. 9 Post on Wednesday (Oct. 23). Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
