Men's Soccer Tops NSCAA Poll For Third-Straight Week
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 23, 2013) - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its latest Division II Top-25 men's soccer poll Tuesday, and LIU Post remained atop the ledger for the third time in as many weeks. The Pioneers are off to their best start in program history in 2013, sporting a 14-0 mark.
Rollins, the only other unbeaten squad in the country, continued to hold onto the No. 2 slot with a record of 13-0. Young Harris climbed three spots to third, while Simon Fraser dropped one notch from third to fourth. Lindenwood rounded out the Top-5. Midwestern State made the largest jump, tying Saint Leo for the No. 7 ranking, after not receiving any votes last week.
Northeast-10 Conference institution and East Region foe Southern New Hampshire moved up from 14th to 10th. On the other hand, Post, following a 1-1 tie versus Bentley, slid from ninth to 15th.
LIU Post picked up a pair of key wins last week against East Coast Conference rivals. The Pioneers, behind two late second-half goals from junior forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway), came back to beat Molloy, 2-1, on Wednesday. They followed that up with a decisive 5-1 victory at St. Thomas Aquinas over the weekend.
LIU Post is back in action today (Oct. 23), when it faces No. 15 Post in a road clash in Waterbury, Conn. The opening kick is scheduled for 3 p.m.
