BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 31, 2013) - The 2013 Capital One Academic All-District men's soccer teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their efforts both on and off the field.

Four members of the LIU Post men's soccer squad, senior goalkeeper Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark), senior defender Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway), senior midfielder Jonathon Watkin (Doncaster, England), and junior forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway), were named to the District 1 First Team.

Jorgensen boasts a 14-1-2 mark between the pipes for the Pioneers, with a .793 save percentage. A Political Science and Economics major, Jorgensen, who sports a 3.96 GPA, ranks third in the East Coast Conference in save percentage and saves (65).

Bjoernoe has used his senior leadership to help propel the Pioneers to a No. 1 spot in the ECC. He has started all 17 games thus far for the green and gold, and has contributed four goals and five assists for a total of 13 points. A Journalism student holding a 3.78 GPA, Bjoernoe is also tied for second on the team with two game-winning goals and has converted on all three penalty kicks he has taken this season.

Watkin uses his explosive speed to beat defenders and set up his teammates. A Physical Education major with a 3.79 GPA, Watkin has contributed three goals and three assists for a total of nine points.

Austboe currently sits at second in the country with 20 goals and 49 points. A Business Management major with a 3.94 GPA, Austboe has led a Pioneers' offense that currently ranks fifth in the nation in scoring offense.

The Academic All-District ® teams include student-athletes in eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.  This is the second year of the expanded Academic All-America® program, as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I), and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

The Pioneers wrap up the regular season on the road on Saturday (Nov. 2), when they take on ECC foe Queens at 3 p.m.
