COLCHESTER, Vt. (Nov. 16, 2013) - On Saturday, the LIU Post men's basketball team dropped its third in a row, suffering a 75-65 loss to Saint Michael's in the Doubletree Doc Jacobs Classic at the Ross Sports Center in Colchester, Vt. The Pioneers shot a mere 33.3 percent from the floor in the defeat.

Up 7-5 just over two minutes into the opening half, the Purple Knights (4-0) went on a 10-4 spurt in a span of 3:23 to go ahead 17-9 at the 14:35 mark. Junior guard Dom Ditlefsen (Portland, Ore.) bookended the run with a three-pointer apiece.

From there, the two squads traded buckets, until a 13-5 burst knotted things up at 29-all with 5:17 left. Senior forward Vaughn Allen (New York, N.Y.) sparked it with a lay-up, while junior guard Isiah Stokley (Queens, N.Y.) drilled a trey to cap it. Freshman guard Jared Hall (South Orange, N.Y.) sandwiched a five-point effort in-between.

Saint Michael's would eventually bring a three-point lead (36-33) into the break, as Ditlefsen knocked down another three on the fast break with 1:01 remaining.

In the second half, both teams continued to exchange points at the start, until a game-changing run sealed the win for the hosts. Leading 46-44 with under 13 minutes remaining, the Purple Knights rolled off a 12-0 streak in a three-plus minute stretch to grab a double-digit advantage (58-44).

Ditlefsen, junior forward James Cambronne (De Bary, Fla.) and freshman forward Matt Bonds (Accokeek, Md.) combined for all the scoring. That proved to be all Saint Michael's needed, as LIU Post (1-3) only came as close as eight points the rest of the way.

Allen collected 20 points and 15 rebounds in the contest for a double-double. Sophomore guard Akosa Maduegbunam (Hyde Park, Mass.) netted 12 points. Junior guard P.J. Torres (New Rochelle, N.Y.) racked up nine points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Junior forward Tyuan Williams (Newark, N.J.), who also grabbed seven rebounds, and sophomore guard Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in six points apiece. Burns dished out four assists as well.

Stokley accumulated five points, four rebounds and one steal. Junior forward Charles McCann (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) pulled down eight rebounds, which was second-best to Allen in the game.

Head Coach Erik Smiles and the Pioneers are back at it Saturday (Nov. 23) against Bloomfield in Bloomfield, N.J. The opening tip is set for 3 p.m.
