Ringor, McCool Earn Top ECC Volleyball Awards
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 22, 2013) - The LIU Post women's volleyball team has put two players on the All-East Coast Conference second-team. Freshman outside hitter
Shelby McCool (Eugene, Ore.) was named the rookie of the year, and sophomore libero
Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) claimed libero of the year kudos.
Ringor anchored the Pioneers' defense this season with a team-leading 522 digs. That total was good for third-best in the conference. Additionally, Ringor's name was atop the ECC leaderboard in digs per set (4.75), service aces (51), and service aces per set (0.46), as she led the league in all three categories.
McCool had a standout freshman year, and was picked to the All-ECC second-team. She led LIU Post, and ranked sixth in the conference with 313 kills. The Eugene, Ore. native also placed in the conference's Top-10 with 2.90 kills per set on a .218 hitting percentage. A two-time recipient of the ECC Rookie of the Week honor, McCool contributed 269 digs, 18 service aces, and 37 total blocks on the season as well.
Junior setter
Lulu Centro (Rome, Italy) joined McCool on the All-ECC second-team, averaging 9.84 assists per set, good for third in the conference and first on the team. She also ranked third in the ECC with 1,082 total assists.
