McCool Earns ECC Rookie of the Week Recognition
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 4, 2013) - Freshman outside hitter
Shelby McCool (Eugene, Ore.) of the LIU Post volleyball team was tabbed the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league Monday.
This is McCool's third time claiming weekly recognition, as she was previously named the top rookie for Week One, and the best overall player for Week Five.
This past week, the freshman led the Pioneers to three-straight ECC sweeps against NYIT, Mercy and Queens. McCool totaled 38 kills over the three matches on a .431 hitting clip. Versus NYIT, she finished with 17 kills and a .696 attack percentage. In the final match of the week against Queens, the Eugene, Ore. native tallied her seventh double-double of the season with 11 kills and 14 digs.
McCool and the Pioneers are back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 5), when they host ECC rival Dowling at the Pratt Recreation Center. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
