BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2013) - In the last home contest of their LIU Post volleyball careers, seniors Geony Fisher (Goodyear, Ariz.), Makamae Namahoe (Hilo, Hawaii) and Susy Cricchi (Borgovelino, Rieti, Italy) led the Pioneers to a 3-0 sweep of East Coast Conference foe Molloy Thursday at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville, N.Y. The three seniors each tallied nine kills in the win.

With the win, the Pioneers improved to 22-7 on the season, including an 11-4 mark in ECC play. The Lions fell to 9-17 on the year and 3-10 in conference action.

In the first set, LIU Post was led by five kills off the hand of freshman middle hitter Analise Austin (Honolulu, Hawaii). The Pioneers strung together runs of 7-2, 5-0, and 5-0 to hold an 18-7 advantage. Molloy tried to claw back, but an Austin kill off a Katie Barto (East Rockaway, N.Y.) helper closed out the set by a 25-16 score.

The home squad was dominating in the second set as well, claiming a nine-point lead at the 19-10 mark. The Lions edged closer with a 5-3 spurt to cut the deficit to 22-15, but once again, it was too little too late for the visitors as a Molloy service error followed by a Cricchi kill ended the set with the Pioneers taking the 25-19 win. This time, Namahoe led her squad to the win with five kills.

After three LIU Post attack errors led to the Lions opening up the third set with a 3-0 lead, the Pioneers battled back with six straight points, as sophomore libero Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) served. Molloy followed with four of the next five points to tie the score at 7-up, before the green and gold re-took the lead that they never relinquished. With the Pioneers leading 15-13 and Ringor serving once again, they closed out the set with a 10-0 run to close out the match and the set at 25-13. Fisher had the exclamation point, as she knocked down the final point off a helper from junior Lulu Centro (Rome, Italy). The Arizona native finished the set with five kills to lead her squad to victory.

Ringor led both sides with 20 digs, and Namahoe scooped up 10 of her own. Centro finished with a match-best.27 assists.

For Molloy, Grace Cookson had eight of the team's 14 kills.

The Pioneers close out the regular season on the road, when they take on Bridgeport on Tuesday (Nov. 12) for a 7 p.m. match-up.
