Beccaris, McAndrew Claim Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America Praise
BALTIMORE, Md. (Dec. 19, 2013) - On Wednesday, Inside Lacrosse's 2014 Face-Off Yearbook tabbed LIU Post senior long-stick midfielder
T.J. McAndrew (Randolph, N.J.) and sophomore attackman
Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) as Preseason All-America second-team selections.
Last year, McAndrew had three goals (two versus Molloy on Apr. 27), while grabbing 38 ground balls. He also caused 27 turnovers, which ranked third-best in the East Coast Conference, and 10th in NCAA Division II. Beccaris, the 2013 ECC Rookie of the Year, hit the ground running as a freshman, accumulating the sixth-most points in the league with 50 (35 G, 15 A). Furthermore, he was tops in the conference in man-down goals (2), third in shots (122) and shots on goal (73), fifth in total goals, and ninth in ground balls (52).
Junior defenseman
Robbie Chiocco (Massapequa, N.Y.) rounded out the Pioneers' representation as an honorable mention pick. In 13 games last season, he amassed 27 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers. For his efforts, Chiocco garnered All-ECC second-team distinction.
