CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Dec. 9, 2013) - On Monday, the East Coast Conference awarded its weekly men's basketball honors, and LIU Post senior forward Vaughn Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) was named the player of the week by the league. It is the second time in three weeks that a Pioneer has gotten the nod.

Allen averaged a team-best 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in a pair of contests last week. He shot an impressive 53.8 percent (14-for-26) from the floor, and 84.6 percent (11-for-13) from the stripe.

On Tuesday, the Mount Vernon, N.Y. product registered 16 points, on 7-of-11 shooting, and nine boards in a 94-58 rout of NYIT. Allen followed that up Saturday with a game-high 23-point effort at District of Columbia. He also pulled down eight rebounds in a 75-62 victory over the Firebirds.

For the year, Allen ranks as the ECC's fourth-leading scorer (18.4 PPG) and sixth-leading rebounder (8.4 RPG). Plus, he is netting baskets at a 51.7 percent (46-of-89) clip, which is fourth-best amongst the conference.

Allen and the Pioneers return to the hardwood Friday (Dec. 12), when they host Daemen in an ECC duel at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville, N.Y. The opening tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
