Men's Lacrosse Selected 10th In USILA Preseason Poll
PITTSBURGH, PA. (Feb. 12, 2013) – The LIU Post men's lacrosse team has been selected number 10 in the 2013 USILA Division II Preseason Coaches Poll, as released on Monday.
The Pioneers are coming off a 2012 season that saw a 6-6 overall record, including a 4-6 finish in the East Coast Conference. Coming into this season, LIU Post has been selected third in the preseason ECC poll.
Atop the USILA poll was a repeat of last year's semifinal matchup between the 2012 National Champion Dowling College and Mercyhurst. Both squads finished with a total of 110 points, while Dowling procured seven first place votes and Mercyhurst grabbed the final three first place votes. The next two spots were awarded to the other 2012 semifinal matchup—LeMoyne and Limestone. The pair grabbed 99 and 95 points, respectively. Rounding out the top five was Merrimack, tallying 81 points.
Sixth place was taken by Seton Hill, followed by Adelphi, NYIT, and Chestnut Hill. LIU Post concluded the top 10 with 21 points. Pfeiffer and St. Michael's took home 11th and 12th place, respectively.
The Pioneers are set to begin the 2013 schedule on the road against Queens University of Charlotte this Sunday, Feb. 17. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Queens Sports Complex.
