Men's Lacrosse Routes Dominican, 18-1

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (April 6, 2013) – Freshman attacker Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored a game-high five goals while 11 other Pioneers factored into the scoring parade as the No. 6 LIU Post men's lacrosse team defeated Dominican College 18-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers held an impressive 62-21 shot margin, and picked up 51 ground balls to Dominican's 36. Dominican had a slight edge in faceoffs, 13-10, but the Pioneers were much better on the ride, completing 19-22 clear attempts, and they also forced 36 Charger miscues.
Senior Justin Patterson (Corning, N.Y.) opened up the scoring for the Pioneers at 11:40 in the first quarter. LIU Post would tack on three more goals in the quarter and lead 4-0 at the end.
In the second quarter, Slane scored three of his goals and gave the Pioneers an 8-0 advantage at halftime.
The Pioneers outscored the Chargers 10-1 in the second half to earn the overwhelming victory.
Other scorers accounting for multi-point outings in addition to Slane were Connor Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) who notched two goals and an assist, freshman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) with two goals, and Patterson with two assists.
Senior goalkeeper Tim Bradley (Wantagh, N.Y.) earned the win as he made six saves and did not allow a goal in 45:00 minutes of action.
