Weber, Gonzalez, Dzierzynski Garner NFCA All-Region Honors
LOUISVILLE, KY. (May 14, 2013) – Three members of the LIU Post softball team were recognized as 2013 NFCA Division II All-Region selections by the region's coaches. Juniors
Liz Weber (Brightwaters, N.Y.) and
Alexis Gonzalez (Hauppauge, N.Y.) along with sophomore
Aly Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) all earned second team honors for the second year in a row.
Weber, who was named a 2013 East Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year, split time between pitcher and designated player. In the circle, Weber led the Pioneer pitching staff with a 2.02 ERA, 24 wins, 201.1 innings pitched, with 216 strikeouts. She also led the team at the plate in batting average (.401) and slugging percentage (.645) and added the second highest on base percentage (.477) and home run total (10).
Gonzalez made every start in center field this season and added the third highest batting average of .340. She led the team in various offensive categories including runs scored (56), homeruns (13), RBI (56), and total bases (119).
Dzierzynski, who split time behind the plate and at first base this year, started in each of the Pioneers 62 games on the season. She finished with a .301 batting average with 55 hits including eight doubles and 10 homeruns. She also knocked in 50 RBI and scored 37 times.
