BALTIMORE, Md. (Aug. 26, 2013) - On Monday, Lacrosse Magazine issued its Midsummer Night's Power Rankings, and the LIU Post men's team placed atop the census. The Pioneers, who posted an 11-3 mark a season ago, bring back both of their top point-getters in 2014, and return 75.3 percent of their overall scoring output.
Reigning national champion Le Moyne, which edged LIU Post in last year's NCAA Tournament, was second. National runner-up Mercyhurst ended up third, while Adelphi and NYIT wrapped up the Top-5.
South Region programs Limestone and Seton Hill ranked sixth, and seventh, respectively. Dowling came in eighth. Lake Erie placed ninth, and Merrimack sat 10th. Molloy and Tampa rounded out the ledger.
In 2013, East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) led the offensive charge for the green and gold, accumulating 35 goals and 15 assists for a 50-point total. Fellow attackman Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.), who was an All-ECC second-team selection, finished at a close second with 43 points (30 G, 13 A).
