GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Sept. 7, 2013) - It was another brilliant effort for junior forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) on Saturday, tallying two goals and an assist, as the eighth-ranked LIU Post men's soccer team clipped Adelphi, 3-2, at Motamed Field in Gsrden City, N.Y. Austboe now has nine points through the first two games.

It didn't take the Pioneers (2-0) long to get on the board. At the 10:27 mark, freshman back Johannes Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) put home an Austboe feed from point-blank range to give the visitors a 1-0 edge. The play originated off a corner kick by sophomore midfielder Matias Ruiz (Southampton, N.Y.).

Just over a minute later, Austboe tallied his second goal of the year, when he tapped in a Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) feed into the lower right side of the netting. That doubled LIU Post's advantage to 2-0.

That duo teamed up again for a tally in the 27th minute. After Turan hit the post on the initial opportunity, Austboe had the put-back, making it a 3-0 contest. The Pioneers would take that lead into the locker room.

During the second half, the Panthers (1-1) stormed out of the gate, notching two goals in the first 20:22, to cut the deficit to one. Sophomore midfielder/forward Alejandro Penzini (Caracas, Venezuela) accounted for both of the markers.

That was as close as AU got though, as senior keeper Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) stopped the two remaining attempts on net. Jorgensen finished with a game-high six saves. On the other hand, freshman goalie Sergio Reyes (Kensington, Md.) turned aside a pair of shots for the hosts.

For the contest, the Panthers owned a 22-11 clip in shots, and a 7-6 margin in corner kicks. Adelphi's Juan Aguiar (Caracas, Venezuela) led all players with six shots (four SOG).

Head Coach Andreas Lindberg and the Pioneers are back at it Thursday (Sept. 12), when they take on Wilmington at the Purple Knight Classic in Bridgeport, Conn. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
