Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho) was dubbed the Northeast-10 Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday. It is the second-straight week and fourth time this season that he has received the honor.
Laurino, who shared the accolade with Saint Anselm's Yianni Gavalas (Manhasset, N.Y.), completed a season-high 34-of-48 passes for 363 yards, also a 2014-best, and three touchdowns in a 35-31 come-from-behind win against Bentley (Nov. 8). Additionally, he scampered for 74 yards on 23 keepers and a pair of scores.
The Boise native has thrown for over 300 yards in half of the Pioneers' games this season. His efficiency rating to-date of 133.7 rates as a career-high.
Laurino currently leads all of Division II in points responsible for (246.0) and points responsible for per game (24.6). Plus, he ranks sixth in total offense (343.3), rushing touchdowns (17) and completions per game (25.8), 11th in scoring (10.8), 14th in passing yards (2,892) and 19th in passing yards per game (289.2).
Meanwhile, in the NE-10, Laurino is slotted second in passing touchdowns (23), and third in passing yards, passing yards per game and completion percentage (62.2).
Laurino and the Pioneers are back in action Saturday (Nov. 15), when they travel up to Springfield, Mass. to face arch-rival American International in the 2014 Northeast-10 Championship Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
