Women's Swimming Falls at Fordham, 169-122

Joyce Kwok's (Middle Village, N.Y.) two NCAA "B" qualifying times in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly, the No. 6 LIU Post swimming team dropped a 169-122 decision to Division I Fordham on Friday at the Messmore Aquatic Center.
The Pioneers swam to first-place finishes in eight events. Their first win came in the 200-yard medley relay.
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden),
Erika Hultman (Bara, Sweden), Kwok and
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) tapped the pad first, completing the heat at 1:47.40, while
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Whales, United Kingdom),
Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.),
Marthe Soerensen (Stavanger, Norway) and
Laura Bendfeldt (Grosshansdorf, Germany) raced to a third-place showing at 1:49.47. The 1,000-yard freestyle saw
Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany) finish at 10:48.95, which was good for third place, whereas the 100-yard backstroke boasted another green and gold first-place finish as Pettersson completed the race at 58.09. Jones followed close behind at 59.17.
Kwok, the reigning 200-yard butterfly National Champion, posted an NCAA "B" qualifying cut time in the event, finishing first at 2:03.47, while Brazier swam to a second-place finish in the 50-yard free and a first-place finish in the 100-yard free at 24.64 and 53.13, respectively. The Pioneers saw two more event wins as Pettersson and Rademacher completed the 200-yard backstroke and breaststroke at 2:04.85 and 2:22.88. Kwok went on to post another NCAA "B" qualifying cut time in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing first at 56.20, while LIU Post took a one-two mark in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Maureen Travers and the Pioneers are back in action next weekend (Nov. 21-23), when they compete at the Rutgers University Invitational in Piscataway, N.J.
