INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 16, 2014) - For the third-consecutive season, the LIU Post volleyball team has secured a berth in the NCAA Division II Championship. The sixth-seeded Pioneers are slated to begin their East Region title defense Thursday against third-seeded Stonehill in Bridgeport, Conn.
LIU Post (19-13) and Stonehill (21-7) met in the regular season on Sept. 20. The green and gold swept the Skyhawks by a 3-0 scoreline. Junior middle hitter
Melissa Hansen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and junior setter/outside hitter
Monica Amador (Cedar Park, Texas) notched eight kills apiece in the win. Amador also tallied 13 assists and three aces.
For Stonehill, senior setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill.) registered a double-double with 29 assists and 13 digs. Junior outside hitter Kelsey Weymouth (North Attleboro, Mass.) had eight kills, while senior middle blocker Meaghan Lee (Hanover, Mass.) put down seven kills on a .308 hitting percentage.
Boasting a 24-2 record, Bridgeport earned the No. 1 seed and hosting duties, after capturing the East Coast Conference title. Last year's runner-up, New Haven, got the No. 2 seed.
