Swimming Closes Out NCAA Championships With 11th-Place Finish

GENEVA, Ohio (Mar. 15, 2014) - The LIU Post swimming team wrapped up its 2013-14 season on Saturday with an official 11th-place showing at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Geneva, Ohio.

The final day of competition featured the Pioneers taking part in the 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breastroke, and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

In the 200-breast, senior Tamara Garriock (Duncan, British Columbia, Canada) clocked a school-record 2:16.39, which was good for 11th place. Meanwhile, junior Carolin Rademacher (Isernhagen, Germany) touched the pad at a 14th-place time of 2:18.28 (Top-5 all-time in program history) in the same event.

Fresh off winning her second-straight national title in the 200-yard butterfly, Kwok registered a 2:02.43 in the 200-back. That mark landed her a 13th-place finish.

Lastly, in the 400-free relay, the tandem of Garriock and Kwok, along with sophomores Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) tied for 10th place (3:26.67). Their time also ranks third-best in the Pioneer record books.

LIU Post rounded out the meet with 118 points. Drury captured the NCAA Division II National Championship, sporting a total of 486 points.
