BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 31, 2014) - Despite rallying back for a 10-9 victory over a ranked Chestnut Hill squad on Saturday, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team remained in the No. 9 spot in the Monday's USILA Division II poll, and slid from eighth to ninth in the Lacrosse Magazine tally.

Down 6-2 at the half against the Griffins, the green and gold stormed to a 7-1 run in the final two quarters, but needed a late goal by sophomore attackman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) to put away their opponents. Sophomore midfielder Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) tallied a hat trick for the Pioneers in the contest, while Beccaris and graduate attacker/midfielder Joe Costello (Minneapolis, Minn.) each scored twice against Chestnut Hill.

The top-3 in each poll remained the same from last week's listing, as Le Moyne held the No. 1 spot over Adelphi and Limestone, respectively. Tampa is the fourth-highest team in both polls but a lot of shuffling occurred from that spot down.  Mercyhurst saw the biggest gains after knocking off then-No. 4 Dowling over the weekend. The Lakers rocketed to fifth in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings, and jumped into a tie for ninth with the Pioneers in the USILA ballot. Dowling fell to fifth in the USILA survey, and dropped two spots from fourth to sixth as per the Lacrosse Magazine vote.

Queens (N.C.) slid out of both tallies after a double-overtime loss to Catawba. Meanwhile, Florida Southern made the jump into the USILA Top-15 and Lenoir-Rhyne climbed into the Lacrosse Magazine ballot for the first time this season.

Head Coach John Jez and the Pioneers will face off with another ranked opponent on Wednesday (Apr. 2) as the team travels up to North Andover, Mass. to face Merrimack. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
