Dzierzynski Named ECC Player of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 14, 2014) - For the second time this season, junior catcher
Aly Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) of the 18th-ranked LIU Post softball team has been tabbed the East Coast Conference Player of the Week, as revealed by the league office on Monday.
Dzierzynski was a mammoth at the plate for the Pioneers this week as she batted .696 (16-for-23) with five home runs, two doubles, four walks, 14 RBIs and seven runs scored. She also posted a slugging clip of1.435 and an on-base percentage of .741.
The junior registered five multi-hit games, including both ends of a doubleheader at No. 11 Caldwell in which she finished the day 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs.
On the week, the green and gold picked up six wins over the eight-game span. LIU Post opened with a home sweep of NYIT (7-2, 10-0), split a home match-up with Molloy (4-12, 6-5), swept a road twinbill at Mercy (7-0, 5-1), and split a pair of games at No. 11 Caldwell (3-5, 8-4).
This week, the Pioneers will have a home contest against Bridgeport (Apr. 17), sandwiched by road games at Dowling (Apr. 15) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Apr. 19).
