Allen Claims ECAC Division II All-Star Accolades
CENTERVILLE, Mass. (Apr. 18, 2014) - Just 24 hours after earning a nod to the All-Met first-team, LIU Post men's basketball senior forward
Vaughn Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) was chosen as an ECAC Division II First-Team All-Star on Friday.
An All-East Coast Conference first-team and Daktronics All-East Region second-team pick as well, Allen averaged a team-leading 16.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game for the Pioneers in 2013-14. He shot a superb 50.2 percent (158-of-315) from the field and 71.2 percent (148-of-208) at the foul line.
His overall rebounding and scoring numbers were good for second- and seventh-best in the East Coast Conference, respectively. Among the nation's statistical leaders, Allen placed in the Top-60 in five categories, including a No. 4 ranking for offensive rebounds per game (4.46).
The Mount Vernon, N.Y. native's final season also consisted of him shattering a 30-plus year old record. On Feb. 22, Allen became the program's all-time leading rebounder, breaking former record-holder Jim McDonald's (1967-70) total of 857.
