Gonzalez, Weber, Martin Win ECC Weekly Awards

Ashley Martin (Long Beach, N.Y.) were tabbed the Co-Player, Pitcher, and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
At the dish, Gonzalez led the Pioneers to a 6-0 week as the junior batted .533 (8-for-15) with four walks, a sacrifice fly, four doubles, two homers, 10 RBIs, and nine runs scored, giving her a 1.200 slugging clip and a .619 on base percentage. In her squad's 11-1 victory in Game Two at Dowling, Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with five RBIs on a double and a grand slam. She also had the game-winner in Game One at St. Thomas Aquinas as she blasted a fifth-inning two-run homer to give her team the 2-0 victory.
Weber registered a 3-0 week in the circle for the Pioneers, tossing 15.1 innings. She allowed just three runs (only one earned) on 13 hits and five walks while fanning 12 over the span. Opponents managed a mere .232 batting average against her, and she recorded an ERA of 0.46 on the week. The senior shut out both Bridgeport and St. Thomas Aquinas, tallying five innings in each match-up while surrendering three and five hits, respectively.
Martin continued her dominance in the circle as she picked up two conference wins for the Pioneers. The freshman tossed five innings against both Dowling and St. Thomas Aquinas, allowing just one run on five hits and three walks while fanning nine. She held opponents to a mere .147 batting average against, while registering an ERA of 0.70. In Game Two at St. Thomas Aquinas, she recorded a complete-game one-hit shutout.
The Pioneers are back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 22) as they host Queens for a conference doubleheader set to begin at 3 p.m. at the LIU Post Softball Complex in Brookville, N.Y.
