Softball Climbs to 16th in Latest NFCA Division II Poll
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Apr. 23, 2014) - Making a two-spot jump, the LIU Post softball team came in at No. 16 in this week's NFCA Division II Poll, released Wednesday.
West Texas A&M (44-4) held down the No. 1 ranking for the ninth-consecutive week after, once again, receiving all 16 possible first-place votes.
As the only other East Region institution in the tally, Caldwell held onto the 10th slot for the second-straight week.
The 36-6 Pioneers are tops in the East Region, while holding an East Coast Conference mark of 22-2. So far this week, the green and gold are 3-1 after sweeping a league doubleheader at Molloy and splitting a twinbill with ECC rival Queens.
The Pioneers return to action on Thursday (Apr. 24), when they head to West Haven, Conn. for a non-conference match-up at New Haven. Play is slated to start at 3 p.m.
**The NFCA Division II Top-25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the eight NCAA regions. Current 2014 records are shown, first-place votes are in parentheses.
