Men's Lacrosse Moves Up to 11th in USILA Top-15 Poll
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 28, 2014) - Following a 9-6 win over then-No. 5 ranked Dowling on Saturday, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team skyrocketed four slots to No. 11 in the USILA Division II Poll, released Monday.
Le Moyne returned to the throne for the first time in almost a month. The Dolphins totaled 147 points and seven first-place votes. Limestone also leapt one notch, securing the No. 2 ranking with 135 points. Adelphi, after an 11-6 loss to NYIT last week, fell from first to third. The Panthers did receive three first-place nods though.
Mercyhurst remained fourth, whereas NYIT (104 points) climbed two rungs to narrowly beat out Tampa (103 points) for fifth. Dowling dipped two spots to seventh, and Merrimack stood pat in eighth. Queens (N.C.) and Florida Southern, sporting nearly identical records, rounded out the Top-10.
In the Lacrosse Magazine rankings, the Pioneers re-entered the discussion at No. 13, as they were held out last week.
The Top-10, however, was as close to identical to the USILA coaches' tally. Le Moyne sat atop the census, but Adelphi was ahead of Limestone in the No. 2 position.
Head Coach
John Jez and his third-seeded LIU Post squad now gear up for the East Coast Conference Championship. They will head next door on Wednesday (Apr. 30) to take on second-seeded NYIT in a semifinal clash at Presidents' Stadium in Old Westbury, N.Y. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m
