Softball Jumps to 18th in Latest NFCA Division II Census
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Apr. 9, 2014) - A six-win week helped the LIU Post softball team to 20 straight wins and a jump from 22nd to 18th in the NFCA Division II Poll, as released on Wednesday.
For the first time in 2014, there was a unanimous choice at No. 1. West Texas A&M (36-4) picked up all 16 possible first-place votes to lead this week's rankings.
With an overall record of 23-3, including a perfect 10-0 mark in East Coast Conference action, the Pioneers have extended their win streak to 20. Most recently, the green and gold swept neighboring NYIT on Tuesday (Apr. 8) by the scores of 7-2 and 10-0.
Also remaining in the poll is fellow East Region institution Caldwell in the 11th spot, after placing 14th last week. The two squads are set to face off for a doubleheader on Sunday (Apr. 13) in Caldwell, N.J.
On Thursday (Apr. 10), LIU Post will host conference rival Molloy in a twinbill set to start at 3 p.m. in Brookville, N.Y.
