The Pioneer Trail: Friday, Sept. 26, 2014

Volleyball vs. Saint Rose - 7 p.m.
The LIU Post volleyball team takes a trip outside of East Coast Conference action Friday, as it welcomes Saint Rose to the Pratt Recreation Center at 7 p.m.

The Pioneers (8-6) are winners of three consecutive tilts after sweeping Molloy on Thursday (Sept. 25) by scores of 25-23, 25-10, and 25-18. The sweep marks the third match in a row that the green and gold have needed the minimum number of sets to dispatch an opponent. On top of that, LIU Post recorded a hitting percentage of over-.300 for the second-straight contest, as the Pioneers sported a .327 clip against the Lions.

Freshman outside hitter Danielle Valenza (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and sophomore Analise Austin (Honolulu, Hawaii) collected nine kills apiece to lead the team. Austin also held the team-lead with a match-best 11 digs, while junior libero Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) and graduate student Katie Hudencial (Mechanicsville, Va.) each dug 10 Molloy attacks. Setters Lulu Centro (Rome, Italy) and Monica Amador (Cedar Park, Texas) both dished out 14 assists, and attacked the ball well in amassing six and seven kills, respectively.

The Golden Knights (6-3) travel to Brookville coming off a 3-1 stint at the American International Invitational in Springfield, Mass. However, Saint Rose was unsuccessful in its last match, as it was swept by New Haven on Saturday (Sept. 20). Twin sisters and seniors Tori and Katy Daniels (South Hadley, Mass.) led the team with 14 assists and 24 digs, individually. The Golden Knights' attack was led by sophomore Maryellen Devic (Orchard Park, N.Y.), who accrued eight kills in the match against the Chargers.
