BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 18, 2015) - On Sunday, the LIU Post wrestling team came out on the short end of a 22-17 loss to Seton Hill at the Pratt Recreatrion Center.

Despite losing the opening bout, the Pioneers (2-11) came back to win the next two weight classes to take the lead. Freshman Joe Calderone (Huntington Station, N.Y.) majored the Griffins' Collin Dees (Perry, Ohio), 10-0, at 133, while junior Jesse Meaney (Toms River, N.J.) used an escape and the riding time point to blank Pat Owens (Philadelphia, Pa.), 2-0, at 141. That put the green and gold in front by a 7-3 score.

However, Seton Hill (5-2) rallied with five consecutive victories, two via technical fall, to secure the win.

Though the result was no longer in doubt, LIU Post took the final two matches of the afternoon. At 197, senior Chris DiIorio (Holtsville, N.Y.) majored Morris Lawson (Phillipsburg, N.J.), 18-7. DiIorio was the focus of the day, as the Pioneers hosted a "Pin Down Cancer" event in honor of his brother Paul, who lost a two-year battle with cancer in December.

Lastly, in the 285-lb. weight class, freshman James Louison (Hauppauge, N.Y.) won via pinfall. He pinned Alex Soutiere (Ravena, N.Y.) in a time of 1:50.

Head Coach Joe Patrovich and his LIU Post squad are back in action Saturday (Jan. 24), when they face Millersville in a road dual at Pucillo Gymnasium in Millersville, Pa. The first bout is scheduled for a noon start.
