NEWBERRY, S.C. (Dec. 2, 2015) - On Wednesday, D2Wrestle.com released its first set of regional rankings for the 2015-16 campaign, and LIU Post placed sixth in the Super Region I poll.
Sophomore
Joe Calderone (Huntington Station, N.Y.) topped the tally at 133 lbs. The reigning All-American won his season-opening match, majoring Shippensburg's Dante Steffenino, and, most recently, beat defending NCAA Division III National Champion Matthew Grossman of Wilkes, 5-4, at Grapple at the Garden. Additionally, Calderone is the third-ranked grappler in Division II at his weight class, according to Intermat.
Sophomores
Ronnie King (Islip, N.Y.) and
James Louison (Hauppauge, N.Y.), both of whom garnered All-Super Region I accolades last year, were slotted third in the 184- and 285-lb. rankings, respectively.
Freshman
T.J. Fabian (Wading River, N.Y.) boasts a 2-2 mark in dual meets, and is listed sixth in the 141-lb. poll. His two victories, which have come against Shippensburg and Springfield, were both via decision.
