PERRY, N.Y. (May 18, 2015) - On Monday, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association revealed its 2015 Division II All-Americans, and the LIU Post men's lacrosse team had eight of its players earn the prestigious honor.

The Pioneers had three student-athletes selected to the USILA All-America second-team. They were senior defenseman Robbie Chiocco (Massapequa, N.Y.), senior midfielder Connor Drost (Wading River, N.Y.) and junior attackman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.).

Chiocco, along with All-America third-team honoree Matt Scalera (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and honorable mention choice Justin Woodley (Bloomington, Minn.), led an LIU Post defense that limited opposing offenses to an average of 8,59 goals per game. That clip ranked second-best in the East Coast Conference.

Scalera, an All-American for the first time in his collegiate career, caused the second-most turnovers (24) in the ECC in 2015. He also amassed the fifth-highest total of ground balls with 67. Meanwhile, Woodley, who is a first-time All-American as well, forced 12 turnovers and scooped up 13 ground balls in the process this season.

Drost tallied an even 27 goals and 27 assists for 54 points, making him the team's third-leading scorer. He got off to a hot start in 2015, amassing 23 points (14 G, 9 A) through the first five contests, including a six-goal showing at Adelphi on Mar. 9. Drost's assist and point totals placed in the Top-10 in the ECC.

Beccaris spearheaded the green and gold's offensive efforts, collecting 44 goals (second-most in ECC) and 20 assists for 64 points. His averages of 2.59 goals and 3.76 points per game ranked 18th and 22nd in Division II, respectively. On Mar. 28, Beccaris' career-high 10-point effort at Dominican was the single-highest scoring performance by a Pioneer since Greg Cerar tallied 12 points against Queens (N.C.) in 2009.

Senior defenseman Dan Jeannotte (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), junior attackman Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) rounded out LIU Post's All-America representation with spots on the honorable mention squad.

Jeannotte was the Pioneers' primary faceoff specialist and won 63.4 percent (206-of-325) of the draws he took. That success rate placed ninth in Division II and earned him a spot on the All-ECC second-team. Additionally, Jeannotte's 115 ground balls were tops in the conference.

Slane and Berardis were two-thirds of Head Coach John Jez's first midfield unit. The duo combined for 58 goals and 32 assists in 2015. Slane, an All-ECC first-team choice, ranked ninth in the league in assists (22), whereas Berardis, a USILA All-America second-team honoree in 2014, was a key cog on the green and gold's man-up opportunities, scoring six (10th - ECC) of his 30 goals on the EMO.
