SYRACUSE, N.Y. (May 9, 2015) - The No. 6/6 and fourth-seeded LIU Post men's lacrosse team dropped a 16-8 decision to No. 3/1 Le Moyne in an NCAA Division II National Quarterfinal on Saturday at Ted Grant Field in Syracuse. The loss wraps up the 2015 campaign for the Pioneers at 14-3 overall.

Trailing by three scores for much of the first half, LIU Post rallied in the second quarter to close the gap to a one-goal game at the break. Junior attackmen Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) and Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) both found the back of the cage in the last 10-plus minutes of the period to trim the visitors' deficit to 5-4.

In the third quarter, the Dolphins (15-2) broke out for six unanswered goals to start the session and pull away from the Pioneers. Senior attackman Kevin Kelly (Basking Ridge, N.J.) scored the last three goals of the run for Le Moyne.

Senior attackman Chris Caiazza (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) notched two goals apiece in the loss for the green and gold. Junior attackman Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist.

On faceoffs, senior defenseman Dan Jeannotte (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) won 14-of-23 (60.8 percent). As a team, LIU Post was 17-of-27 (62.9 percent) on draws.

Between the pipes, junior goalie Adam Winne (Ridgefield, Conn.) made three saves for the Pioneers. His counterpart, Alec Krawec (Kirkville, N.Y.), stopped 13 shots for the Dolphins.

Overall, LIU Post held a 34-32 edge in shots and a 34-29 advantage in ground balls. It was also an impressive 17-of-20 (85.0 percent) on clears.
