Football Chosen to Repeat in NE-10 Preseason Poll

MANSFIELD, Mass. (Aug. 21, 2015) - Coming off winning its first league title in four years, the LIU Post football team was tabbed as the favorite in the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Poll, released Friday morning.

The Pioneers, who topped the poll for the first time since 2006, received four first-place votes and finished with 74 points. American International came in second, earning 74 points as well, and two first-place nods.

Assumption (65 points) and New Haven (62 points), both of whom claimed two first-place votes, placed third and fourth, respectively. Saint Anselm and Stonehill tied for fifth with 41 points.

LIU Post, which captured its sixth NE-10 title in 2014, has compiled a winning record in four of the past six years. Most recently, the green and gold posted an overall ledger of 8-4 a season ago.

Entering his 18th campaign patrolling the sidelines, Bryan Collins has led the Pioneers to eight conference crowns in his tenure. He boasts a 123-64 (.658) mark at LIU Post and is the program's all-time winningest coach.

The Pioneers return seven All-NE-10 selections from a season ago, including first-team honorees Shane Hubbard (St. Albans, N.Y.) and Sean Binckes (Brooklyn, N.Y.). The duo combined for 1,772 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns last year.

LIU Post kicks off 2015 on Thursday, Sept. 3 in East Stroudsburg, Pa. against non-conference foe East Stroudsburg University. Action is slated to get underway from Eiler-Martin Stadium at 7 p.m.
