Men's Soccer Listed 11th in Preseason NSCAA Top-25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Aug. 6, 2015) - The college soccer season kicks off in a few weeks and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced its Continental Tire Preseason Top-25 rankings for Division II on Thursday. The LIU Post men's soccer team, the reigning NCAA East Region champion, found itself ranked 11th heading into the 2015 campaign.
The green and gold are coming off a record-setting 2014 season that saw the Pioneers finish 16-5-2 with the program's first-ever East Region title.
The defending national champion, Lynn University, took the preseason No. 1 spot, following a 19-1-1 overall mark last season. National runner-up, University of Charleston, claimed the No. 2 spot. Quincy University, Colorado Mesa University, and Young Harris College rounded out the Top-5.
LIU Post returns one of the team's two 2014 NSCAA All-America picks. Senior midfielder
Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) was second on the team in scoring in 2014, putting away eight goals and adding nine assists for a 25-point output. Forgaard was an ECAC First Team All-Star
, a Daktronics All-East Region first-team honoree and an All-East Coast Conference selection in his third season in Brookville.
In addition, the green and gold return the 2014 ECC Rookie of the Year
Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, North Wales, U.K.) and All-ECC second-team selections
David Arvidsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) and
Matias Ruiz (Southampton, N.Y.).

Andreas Lindberg and the Pioneers kick off the 2015 regular season on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m., when they take on Adelphi in Garden City as part of the Adelphi Alumni Invitational.
