LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2015) - The LIU Post volleyball team kept its hot start going Friday, as it defeated Salem International College, 3-0, and Shepherd University, 3-1, at Lock Haven University's Angelina Miele Memorial Tournament at Thomas Field House.

Match #1: LIU Post 3, Salem International 0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-14)
In the win over Salem International (3-4), nine different Pioneers tallied kills, led by Danielle Valenza's (Hauppauge, N.Y.) six kills and seven digs. Freshman outside hitter Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) recorded five kills and four digs. Senior middle hitter Melissa Hansen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and junior middle hitter Taryn McCullouch (Buena Park, Calif.) had four kills apiece.

LIU Post had a strong presence at the net in the sweep of the Tigers, collecting 15 block assists. Freshman middle/right-side hitter Elise Strange (Chesapeake, Va.) paced the Pioneers with four blocks. 

The green and gold also excelled behind the service line, earning 10 aces. Londot and senior libero Rachel Ringor (Honolulu, Hawaii) each served up three aces.

Match #2: LIU Post 3, Shepherd 1 (13-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-15)
Despite dropping the first set, LIU Post (5-1) rallied to win the next three games to knock off Shepherd (2-3) by a 3-1 scoreline.

Londot (13 kills, 15 digs) and Valenza (12 kills, 13 digs) both notched double-doubles in the victory. Londot hit at a .273 clip, as well. Senior setter/right-side hitter Monica Amador (Cedar Park, Texas) registered eight kills and 11 digs, to go along with two blocks.

Ringor collected 15 digs and two service aces. Freshman setter Giulia Genna (Civitella San Paolo, Italy) dished out 13 assists and added four digs.

Head Coach Shellane Ogoshi and the Pioneers wrap up play in Lock Haven on Saturday (Sept. 12), when they take on the host Bald Eagles and Wayne State University at the Angelina Miele Memorial Tournament. The matches are slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
