Box Score GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Sept. 3, 2015) - Despite trailing by a pair of goals with less than 10 minutes to go in regulation, the No. 11 ranked LIU Post men's soccer team battled back to tie Adelphi University, 2-2, in the Pioneers' 2015 season opener at Motamed Field.

Though the Panthers (0-0-1) scored two first-half goals, LIU Post (0-0-1) rallied late..

In the 83rd minute, sophomore forward Jason Lampkin (Hawardon, North Wales, U.K.) sent one into the top-right corner of the goal, making it a 2-1 game.

Then, with less than five minutes remaining, graduate midfielder Tom Bowen (Aberdovey, Wales, U.K.) was awarded a penalty kick, and he connected. The strike tied the game at 2-all.

In the final two-and-a-half minutes, the Pioneers had a chance to take the lead, but Lampkin's shot was blocked and a corner kick was unsuccessful, sending the game into overtime.

In the first extra session, LIU Post got a scoring chance from sophomore back Oliver Hollingsaeter (Alesund, Norway). However, Adelphi's keeper was there to make the save. Just 11 seconds later, Lampkin rifled a shot that was stopped, and the period would end 2-2.

In the second overtime, the Panthers got a shot off with just under three minutes to go. Senior keeper Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) turned it aside though for one of his five saves on the night.

Overall, the green and gold held advantages in shots (19-16) and corner kicks (9-6).

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday (Sept. 5), when they take on No. 16 Southern Connecticut State University in a battle of Top-25 ranked teams at the Adelphi Alumni Invitatinal in Garden City. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start.
