Pearse, Malmstrom Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2016) 
- LIU Post men's soccer junior midfielder Harry Pearse (London, England) and senior goalkeeper Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) have been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday.

Pearse, who boasts a 3.43 cumulative grade-point average in Psychology, is having a breakout season. Through 15 games, he is the Pioneers' second-leading scorer with a career-high 29 points (9 G, 11 A).

Pearse currently leads the East Coast Conference in assists, while ranking fourth in the league in points and fifth in goals. Additionally, his 11 helpers are tied for the fifth-most in Division II.

Malmstrom, a 3.97 GPA student in Finance, sports an ECC-best 12-0-1 record with 29 saves and five shutouts. He also paces the conference in fewest goals allowed (7) and goals-against average (0.59).

Furthermore, Malmstrom carried an impressive scoreless streak of 466:15 this season. He has yielded one goal or fewer in 11 of his 13 starts in 2016.

Pearse, Malmstrom and the Pioneers close out the 2016 regular season Saturday (Oct. 29), when they square off with ECC rival New York Institute of Technology at 2:30 p.m. in Old Westbury.
