Men's Soccer Jumps to No. 4 in NSCAA Top-25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 4, 2016) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post men's soccer team moved up to No. 4 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II Top-25 Poll.

The Pioneers are coming off a 4-0 rout of Wilmington last Saturday to improve to 9-0 on the year. It is the green and gold's best start since 2013, when they won 14 straight games to open the season.

LIU Post is also one of only three teams from the East Region to be slotted in the Top-25 this week. Adelphi University occupied the No. 14 ranking, while Merrimack College was 24th.

Sophomore midfielder Charlie Ledula (London, England) currently leads the East Coast Conference in goals (10) and points (21). His six game-winners are the second-most in Division II.

Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) boasts the second-lowest goals-against average in the nation at 0.28. He has allowed the fewest goals (2) of any netminder in Division II in 2016.

Head Coach Andreas Lindberg and the Pioneers return to action Saturday (Oct. 8), when they travel to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. to take on ECC rival Mercy College. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
