Men's Soccer Gets No. 1 Seed in NCAA Division II Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 7, 2016) - After capturing its second-straight East Coast Conference title, the LIU Post men's soccer team received the No. 1 seed in the East Region of the 2016 NCAA Division II Championship on Monday night.

The Pioneers, who are the only remaining unbeaten team in Division II, earn a first-round bye and will host the winner of the first-round game between fourth-seeded Franklin Pierce University and fifth-seeded Merrimack College on Saturday (Nov. 12) at 1 p.m.

LIU Post has not faced off against Franklin Pierce since 2010. That year, the Pioneers fell to the Ravens in their season opener, 6-2.

However, in 2009, the green and gold earned a 1-0 overtime victory at Franklin Pierce.

Meanwhile, LIU Post has had quite a few recent run-ins with Merrimack. Over the last three seasons, the Pioneers are 2-2 against the Warriors. One of those victories came in the NCAA Division II East Region final in 2014.
