BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 10, 2016) - On Wednesday night, the LIU Post men's basketball team held on for a 60-57 victory against Molloy College in an East Coast Conference tilt at the Pratt Recreation Center.

Tied at 54-apiece in the final 30 seconds of regulation, sophomore forward Hunter Powell (Tustin, Mich.) delivered a go-ahead put-back lay-up at the 27-second mark. Junior guard Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) then came down with a key defensive rebound, and subsequently buried four consecutive free throws to seal it for the Pioneers (14-9, 9-6 ECC), who snapped a five-game losing streak.

LIU Post trailed 43-42 with seven-and-a-half minutes left in the latter session. That was until the green and gold showcased the three-ball over the next three-plus minutes to take a 54-47 lead with 4:24 left.

Senior guard Akosa Maduegbunam (Hyde Park, Mass.) knocked down a pair of three-pointers in that stretch. Hall and senior guard Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) drilled one trifecta apiece.

However, Molloy (6-16, 4-10 ECC) answered with a quick 7-0 spurt to tie the score at 54-all with 2:31 to go. Senior guard Brandon Williams (Baldwin, N.Y.) pulled the game even on a pair of free throws.

Hall poured in a game-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win. It was his 11th 20-point game of the season. Burns had 12 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Junior forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) added 10 points and 10 boards for a double-double. Maduegbunam chipped in nine points and four boards. Junior forward Barrington Alston (Wilmington, Del.) and Powell collected seven and six rebounds, respectively.

Head Coach Erik Smiles and the Pioneers return to action Saturday (Feb. 13), when they travel to Flushing for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off at ECC opponent Queens College.
