BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 29, 2016) - The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and Lacrosse Magazine announced its latest national polls for Division II men's lacrosse Monday, and LIU Post fell two notches to ninth.
The Pioneers, who now sit at 0-2 on the year, are coming off a 15-9 loss to then-No. 9 Adelphi University on Saturday (Feb. 27).
Down 12-6 late in the fourth quarter, LIU Post strung together three unanswered goals to cut the deficit in half, but that was as close as it got. Senior attackman/midfielder
Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) had a team-high four points (2 G, 2 A) in the defeat. Three other players added two goals apiece for the green and gold.
Between the pipes, junior goalie
Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) posted his second-straight double-digit save performance with 12 stops. Through two games, Liantonio's 24 saves currently rank second-best in the East Coast Conference.
Head Coach
John Jez and the Pioneers are back in action Wednesday (Mar. 2), when they square off with St. Thomas Aquinas College in a non-conference showdown at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 3 p.m. in Brookville.
