BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 28, 2016) - After a dominating 21-3 rout of Dominican College last Thursday, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team climbed one spot to No. 13 in Monday's Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division II Top-15 Poll.
The win also kept the Pioneers at No. 16 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Nike Division II ledger.
Senior attackmen
Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) and
Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) amassed a game-high-tying six points apiece in the victory. Beccaris registered a season-best five goals and allocated an assist, while Slane had three goals and three assists.
Beccaris' five-goal output improves his career total to 132, putting him 13 goals away from breaking the program's career record of 144, set by former head coach and LIU Post Athletic Hall of Famer
Tom Postel from 1963-65.
Through eight games, the Pioneers currently boast the third-best man-up offense in the country, scoring at a rate of 57.1 percent (12-of-21). They are also holding opponents to the ninth-lowest goals-against average in Division II at 7.88.
Head Coach
John Jez and his LIU Post squad return to action Wednesday (Mar. 30), when they face Post University in a non-conference match-up at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville. The opening faceoff is slated for 3 p.m.
