Men's Lacrosse Remains Ninth in Lacrosse Magazine Poll

SPARKS, Md. (Mar. 7, 2016) - On Monday, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team stayed ninth in the latest Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division II Top-15 Poll.

Meanwhile, the Pioneers dipped one place to No. 10 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association ledger.

LIU Post won both of its contests last week, defeating St. Thomas Aquinas College (16-3) and Roberts Wesleyan College (15-6), to improve to 2-2 overall.

Senior attackman Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) tallied eight goals, six of which occurred Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan, and four assists for a team-leading 12 points in the two games.

Senior attackman/midfielder Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) had 10 points, off six goals and four helpers. Senior attackman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman attackman/midfielder Thomas Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) scored four goals apiece.

Limestone College and Le Moyne College individually stood pat at No. 1 and No. 2 in both polls. In the USILA tally, Merrimack College was third, while Seton Hill University and University of Tampa each moved up one spot to round out the Top-5.

Head Coach John Jez and the Pioneers are back in action Tuesday (Mar. 8), when they face Georgian Court University in a non-conference duel at 4 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J.
